Traveling through Australia

The land of Australia is known to be one of the most unique and adventurous locations in the world. This island-continent contains several of the best tourist destinations and attractions in the world. There are several routes or tours that are recommended to most tourists and travelers, but the best courses are usually the ones that tourists do not know about. Here are a few examples of alternative tourist routes to try in the “Land Down Under”:

Most of the best tourist spots in Australia are found in the coastlines in cities such as Melbourne and Pert, but there are also several other areas to explore in Australia. People can explore the landscape and appreciate the beauty of Australia’s Gibb River Road. This road is an unsealed track that cuts tight through the Kimberly region of Australia. Taking this road can be arduous, but the scenery and the sense of solitude are well worth the trip.

Another route that can take you to one of the most beautiful yet unexplored locations in Australia is through the Gunbarrel Highway. It was named that because of the straight course that runs “straight as a gun barrel”. This highway takes you from the western part of Australia, all the way to the deserts of the Red Centre. Through this route tourists can fully appreciate the beauty and charm of the Australian Outback.

Another scenic route would take place in on the Oodnadatta Track. The Oodnadatta track is considered to be the easiest tracks in Australia in the outback. The road in this gravel track is well maintained and it follows the old Ghan railway that runs from central South Australia, from Marree to Marla. There are several tourist destinations in this route including William Creek, Lake Eyre, the largest salt lake in Australia, and of course the small town of Oodnadatta.

If tourists prefer asphalt roads and a smooth journey, they could take the Stuart Highway, also known as the “Explorer’s Highway”. This highway runs from north to south in the middle of Australia. This highway spans over 3,000 kilometers and links Darwin in the north, to Port Augusta in the south. Along this highway you can experience the beautiful Outback sceneries without having to go through the harsh desert tracks. Tourists can also stop by and enjoy the sights and sceneries in the many small towns and villages that they may pass along the highway.
